DESIGN

If the exterior of Montero Sport hasn't already convinced you, one look inside should dispel any notions that this is a traditional SUV.

Combining a high seat position with wide front windshield, Montero Sport gives you a commanding view of your surroundings, with luxurious styling to make the ride all the more pleasant. The controls, meters and gearshift are all ergonomically arranged around the wheel for intuitive operation while driving. At the center of it all sits the meter cluster, attractively designed in red for maximum visibility in all conditions. Passengers stepping into Montero Sport, however, are in for a wonderful surprise, greeted by available leather seating with ample headroof and space to stretch their legs.

Mitsubishi's exclusive sound system delivers 420W (Max) high power Amp audio output throughout the interior. 8 Speakers are placed for optimal sound balance and maximum enjoyment of all occupants from front to rear.

Volume, track selection and sound mode controls are arranged on the steering wheel for easy access, allowing to optimize listening environment without taking hands from the wheel.

Sometimes, instead of getting away from it all, you want to take it with you, and Montero Sport makes that easier than ever. The folding rear seats give the extra room to handle an additional set of suitcases, golf bags or whatever else you need to carry. And with the easy-opening tailgate, loading and unloading everything is a breeze.

To provide as much carrying space as possible, the 3rd-row seats can be easily folded and unfolded seperately, giving plenty of room for groceries, suitcases or bulky cargo, while leaving lots of seating space for all passengers.

PERFORMANCE

3.5-Liter 24-valve V6 SOHC ECI-MULTI

The 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine delivers an incredible amount of output power of high-range cruising on the open highway, while still providing plenty of torque to give you ample pulling capability when hauling heavy loads or help you get through rough driving conditions with confidence. The ECI-MULTI electronically controlled fuel injection system maximizes intake efficiency to produce more complete combustion, resulting in fewer emissions and giving you even, responsive acceleration you can depend on any speed. And the single overhead camshaft design reduces engine vibration and mechanical noise for a smooth and quite ride.

The LSD (Limited-Slip Differential) uses an internal clutch escape mechanism to prevent torque loss if one wheel starts spinning

The hybrid-type Limited Slip Differential (LSD) gives excellent off-road response,combining the torque-sensing benefit of helical gears and a speed-sensing of a viscous coupling unit, all designed to work together with ABS.

INVECS-II 4-speed automatic transmission provides smooth, intelligent shifting. INVECS-II shift control analyzes driving conditions to select the best shifting style, and can even study driving preferences to create a profile that matches driver characteristics.

SAFETY

Montero Sport is designed to protect passengers with an array of safety features from the Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body design to powerful brakes and front airbags for driver and passenger both.

Collapsible steering column

The steering column helps protect drivers in frontal collision by collapsing away from the interiro to reduce the chance of driver injury, while the lower steering shaft compresses to absorb impact energy.

ELR seatbelts with pretensioners and force-limiters

The front row, 2nd-row side and 3rd-row seats are equipped with ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor) seatbelts to hold occupants securely in sudden stops. In a collision, the front pretensioner tighten as the airbags deploy to minimize movement, while force-limiters then gently release, lowering the chance of injury.

Anti-intrusion brake pedal

The brake pedal folds forward and inward during a frontal collision to help protect the driver's legs.

Side door impact bars

Thick side bars along the doors resist impact force in the event of a side collision, helping to protect occupants.

Montero Sport offers the protection of front SRS airbags for both driver and front passenger. Used together with 3-point ELR seatbelts with pretensioners and force-limiters, they provide an excellent degree of collision safety.

For quicker stopping in all conditions, Montero Sport features large front ventilated disc & rear drum brakes. With an added vaccum booster to multiply emergency stopping power, drivers can now feel confident and safe even when conditions turn hazardous.
